Mumbai Taxi Unions decided to Increase Fares Rs 1.50 per km

Finally taxi unions in Monday accepted Re 1 hiked in the fare. This is an ad-hoc fare hike. The currently used fare calculating formula will be scrapped after this the new trade committee is going to be appointed very soon.
The taxi fares were revised on Monday, increasing by Rs 1.50 for every km travel.

A L Quadros The taxi union leader, said, Re 1 fare hike is accepted by them on a temporary basis. The union is not at all happy with this. They all want a new committee and a new formula for fare hikes.

The union also added that this committee is getting appointed since 2006 still it is in progress. Quadros added that the cost of living in Mumbai has risen. The Drivers have their own needs to be fulfilled, they have their families to be taken care, their children and to manage all these they need to get proper income.
A memorandum for this has been submitted to the authorities.
