Saching Tendulkar get Place in Parliament !

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will be a Member of Parliament now. In a sudden move, the President approved his nomination to the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

The Centre had recommended his name along with three others and the cricket legend accepted the offer after a meeting with Sonia Gandhi in the capital on Thursday.

This is the first time that an active sportsperson has been nominated to the Upper House of Parliament. The Master blaster just turned 39 last week, and is yet to retire from international cricket. He is expected to be away on cricket duty through 2013.

The move to nominate him has been welcomed from across the political spectrum, including the Congress as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Welcoming the move, the BJP has expressed hope that the iconic batsman will devote time to Parliament.

BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Sachin is a great player and we are proud of him. If Sachin is being nominated, surely he would devote some time to Parliament."

Another BJP leader, Najma Heptullah, said there could not have been a better choice than Sachin.

She said, "I am happy for Sachin. Last time when I spoke to the media on his birthday, I had said that I hope that government nominates him for Rajya Sabha. There is no one better than Sachin. I am happy."

The Congress in its reaction was short and crisp.

"It would be nice if Sachin comes to Parliament," said Congress leader Renuka Chaudhary.

Though the politicians seem to speak in one voice, not everyone is convinced. The issue of the nomination of the cricket player was discussed by IBN18 Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai on India@9 on Thursday.

Sanjay Manjrekar, a former teammate of the cricket legend said he was shocked at the news.

He said, "I am shocked. It needs to be seen if he can take out time. Expect him to bring some change."

Though senior journalist and Rajya Sabha MP H K Dua defended the move, he also had a word of caution.

"I will be disappointed if Sachin joins a political party," said Dua.

Meanwhile, the government has also recommended actress Rekha and industrialist Anu Agha to be members of the Rajya Sabha.

The move has been taken under a provision of the constitution which allows the President to appoint 12 members to the Upper House from fields of film, culture, business and others.

On March 21, former captain of the Indian hockey team, was sworn in as a member of the Rajya Sabha as a Biju Janata Dal candidate from Odisha.

Mumbai Indian lie down front of Delhi Daredevils

Delhi Daredevils consolidated their position at the top with a convincing 37-run win over Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday.

Mumbai Indians, chasing a stiff target of 208, were restricted to 170 for nine in 20 overs after Ambati Rayudu top scored with 62 and Dinesh Karthik made 40.

It was an all-round show by Daredevils. A century-run stand between openers Virender Sehwag (73) and Mahela Jayawardene (55) took Delhi Daredevils to a formidable total of 207 for five in 20 overs.

A disciplined performance from pacers Umesh Yadav (2-36), Irfan Pathan (2-46) and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem (2-35) helped them register their second win over Mumbai Indians this season.

Mumbai Indians failed to extract revenge for their home loss against Daredevils when they were shot out for 92 for their lowest total in the IPL.

With the win, Daredevils opened up a three-point lead at the top and have 12 points from eight matches while Mumbai Indians are seventh with eight points from as many matches.

Mumbai Indians' chase started on a poor note as they lost opening batsmen Aiden Blizzard in the third ball of the day with Jaywardene taking an easy catch at mid-on off Irfan Pathan (2-29).

Sachin Tendulkar, who was nominated to Rajya Sabha Thursday, disappointed as he managed just seven before he holed out to Kevin Pietersen at mid-off off Morne Morkel.

Mumbai Indians' in-form batsman Rohit Sharma (12) played a poor shot at a wide delivery off Pathan and gave an easy catch to Ajit Agarkar at mid-off as Mumbai Indians were reduced to 19 for three. By 10 overs, Mumbai Indians were struggling at 88 for three.

The 96-run stand between Karthik and Rayudu was the only highlight of their chase. And after they departed, the lower-order failed to put much of a fight.

Earlier, Sehwag and Jayawardene with their 135-run stand, the highest opening run stand and second highest overall in the season, laid the foundation for a late onslaught by Kevin Pietersen (50 not out).

Jayawardene started the blitzkrieg with three crisply timed fours off Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga (2-31) in the third over. Malinga, who was coming from an injury layoff due to a back spasm, was still the pick of the Mumbai Indians. In his last outing here in 2011, Malinga had demolished the Daredevils batting with his figures for five for 13.

Sehwag raised the tempo in the sixth over, hitting pacer Rudra Pratap Singh for a six and a four in consecutive balls. From then on there was no stopping Sehwag, who was the dominating force during the first-wicket stand. Sehwag also became the first batsmen this season to strike three consecutive fifties.

Jayawardene was happy playing the second fiddle and rotated the strike that allowed Sehwag to go freely after the Mumbai Indians bowlers.

Sehwag, who survived a stumping chance in the ninth over off Robin Peterson (3-37), got his half -century in style hitting Kieron Pollard two sixes and two fours in the 11th over as he jumped from 44 to 65 in just six balls.

At a time when the partnership looked dangerous, Jayawardene gifted his wicket as he attempted a reverse pull off left arm-spinner Robin Peterson and found Rohit Sharma at points. Jayawardene struck eight four in his 42-ball knock.

Petersen struck twice in his next over to get rid of Sehwag and Irfan Pathan, who was promoted up the order and did not trouble the scorers.

Englishman Pietersen, however, kept Daredevils on track and smashed IPL debutant Rahul Shukla for two fours and a six as 17 runs came off the 15th over.

Pietersen was severe on Petersen and hit the South African for two fours and two sixes as 20 runs came off the 18th over. Pietersen and Ross Taylor (15) added valuable 41 runs for the fourth wicket and by the 18th over Daredevils were 195 for three and were looking at a target well above 200.

Malinga, however, struck twice in the penultimate over to remove Taylor and Yogesh Nagar, trapping them LBW in consecutive deliveries to pull back things in favour of Mumbai Indians. Daredevils managed just 12 runs in the last two overs to get to the second highest total of the season.

Mumbai Indians Win Against Kings XI Punjab in thriller match

After two consecutive defeats, Mumbai Indians got their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign back on track with a thrilling four-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium here Wednesday.

Heroics from Ambati Rayudu, who struck a 17-ball 34, helped Mumbai Indians chase down the target of 169 losing six wickets and with a ball to spare for their first ever win in Mohali in five seasons. Rayudu was also adjudged Man of the Match.

With the win, Mumbai Indians moved to the sixth spot with eight points from seven matches while Kings XI remained at the eighth place with six points from eight matches.

Opting to bat first, Kings XI Punjab got a challenging total of 168 for three in 20 overs after stand-in skipper David Hussey struck an unbeaten 68 while David Miller remained not out on 34.

While chasing, Mumbai Indians got off to a good start with James Franklin (22) and Sachin Tendulkar (34) adding 52 runs for the first wicket. Veteran Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mahmood (2-23), who is playing as a British citizen, picked up the openers in his consecutive overs as Mumbai Indians slumped from 52 for no loss to 59 for two.

Rohit Sharma came with a brilliant 50 off 30 balls, which was studded with three fours and three sixes, to keep Mumbai Indians' chase on track.

Rohit and skipper Harbhajan Singh, who didn't trouble the scorers, were dismissed by pacer Parvinder Awana (3-39) in the 18th over which left Mumbai Indians needing to score 32 runs off the last two overs.

It looked as if Kings XI would get an easy win, but things turned in favour of Mumbai Indians in the penultimate over bowled by leggie Piyush Chawla (1-46).

Chawla was clobbered for four sixes in his last over by Robin Pietersen (16 not out) and Rayudu, both hitting two each, as 27 runs came off the 19th over and took Mumbai Indians to the threshold of a win.

Raydu and Pietsersen then held their nerves and took Mumbai Indians to a win without further loss.

What is plan for kids this summer in Mumbai

There comes a time every year when even the most forbearing mother looks at her highly strung and extremely energetic offspring, and says “What the hell am I going to do with you?” The smart answer, Mumbai moms are fast realising, lies in summer workshops that introduce kids to different activities and help them discover new aspects to their personalities. While your child dabbles in dance or drama, you can take a few hours off and sneak in a quick nap because before you know it—she’s gonna be back. Here’s a round-up of the most promising summer workshops in the city this year:

The Artist
Along with wet wipes and a bottle of water, crayons are part of the “absolute essentials” kit that no mother dares move out of her house without because she knows that all else failing, drawing is the one thing that can calm even the most errant young child. Our pick of all the art camps for children being run this season is the ten-session program by @KidzArt because it goes beyond just colouring with crayons to cover different art forms and techniques—including water colour painting, clay modelling and collages—through such education-oriented themes as the World Explorer.
Ages: Between 4 and 12.
Dates and timings: Until Saturday, June 2. Timings vary according to the venue.
Fees: Rs 2,750 per child.
Visit kidzartindia.com or call 98217 84999 for venues and further details.

The Craftsperson
Craft has always been treated like the poor cousin of its more glamorous brother, art. Well-known sculptor Arzaan Khambatta is hoping to change that this summer with his workshop where he will teach kids how make a spaceship out of spare machine parts.

The Performer
Sanjna Kapoor and her team at her recently formed theatre company Junoon believe that theatre is essentially “Arts at Play”, which is the umbrella name for the series of workshops they are conducting this summer. The workshops include those with such unusual names as “Stones & Stories” (where kids will learn the stories behind different stones from around the world) and “Gadbad Ghotala” (that will familiarise them with popular Hindi children’s poetry). Equally worthy is the National Centre for the Performing Arts’ Summer Fiesta that comprises a selection of 20 programs. Ranging from improv comedy to writing, they aim to imbibe participants with a sense of confidence.
Ages: Junoon Arts at Play: 6 and above. NCPA Summer Fiesta: between 6 and 14.
Dates and timings: Junoon Arts at Play: until Sunday, June 10. NCPA Summer Fiesta: from Wednesday, May 2 to Monday, May 21.

The Creator
The Pomegranate Workshop is one of the few places that offers summer activities for adolescents. Their workshops, designed for children up to age of 20, include those where participants can learn how to shoot a film, write a comic strip, and create an advertisement.

Chris Gayle breaks nose of 10 year old girl

Chris Gayle, the star batsman of Royal Challengers Bangalore, visited a young girl named Tia, who was incidentally injured by one of his sixes against Pune Warriors during the Indian Premier League clash in Bengaluru.

The swashbuckler himself revealed the ‘broken nose’ incident on Twitter. He posted, “Visit Tia who got hit by 1 of my 6s, broken nose :(..her 1st word to me is to Chill,She's fine!xxx”.

It was the West Indies player who took away the match from the Warriors, who were on top after posting 182 in the first innings. Gayle scored 81 runs from 48 balls for RCB - who won the match by six wickets.

Gayle took time to settle down, but he opened up to hit a record eight sixes and 4 fours, with five of the sixes coming in the 13th over by Warriors' Rahul Sharma. Gayle also won the Man of the Match award and obviously, the award for maximum sixes in the match.

Sachin Tendulkar Celebrate his 39 Birthday With Faimly and Team Mumbai Indians - Mumbai 24 April

Sachin Tendulkar turns 39 on Tuesday but no big celebrations have been planned so far by the batting icon or his Mumbai Indians team-mates though his die-hard fans have made elaborate plans to observe the day in a big way.

Tendulkar and his wife Anjali, but without their two children, arrived here by an afternoon flight from Mumbai.

The batting maestro's IPL team Mumbai Indians teammates also arrived here with him. Mumbai are set to clash with Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on Wednesday.

While the five star hotel where Tendulkar and his teammates are staying have made arrangements on their own to throw a party to celebrate his birthday, his first after scoring his 100th international ton, but MI sources said the event is likely to be a low-key affair.

A small private function may be kept and his teammates will wish him on his birthday and cut the cake. MI team owner Nita Ambani is also likely to be present, the sources said.

"There may be a small function, but nothing grand. Tendulkar is a very private person and we are not expecting the event to be a bash. It will be a small function," a team source said.

A senior official of the hotel said they were ready with their preparations, but were waiting for the green signal from Tendulkar's side.

This will not, however, dampen the spirit of his die-hard fans. As the team arrived at the hotel, his fans had already lined up.

"We are a group of friends studying in a college. All of us have placed order for a 10-kg cake to celebrate Tendulkar's birthday. All our friends will be joining us and a big party will be thrown as it is his first birthday after he scored his 100th century recently," said Tanya Mittal, one of his fans.

Last year, Tendulkar did not celebrate his birthday following the demise of his spiritual guru Satya Sai Baba.

We Lost Today Kings XI Punjab beat Mumbai Indians

MUMBAI: Another day. Another ripper. This time seen to rightful rest by Shaun Marsh. The Aussie southpaw smashed an unbeaten 40-ball 68, allowing Kings XI Punjab to chase down Mumbai Indians’ 163 in the last over at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Marsh’s knock overshadowed James Franklin’s 51-ball 79 in the first innings, as a Sachin Tendulkar-reinforced Mumbai failed to defeat an Adam Gilchrist-less Punjab. Mumbai elected to bat and posted a total at least 20 runs less than what they had appeared set for when Franklin and Dinesh Karthik were going great guns, and failed to restrict Punjab despite Kieron Pollard’s unbelievable 4-0-14-2 outing.

Marsh was accorded timely help by Nitin Saini (30), Mandeep Singh (24) and David Hussey (21) – who was captaining the side – and in the end Punjab’s batsmen completed what had been set up by their bowlers, principally Parvinder Awana (4-0-23-2) and Piyush Chawla (4-0-19-0).

Earlier, Mumbai won the toss and limped at the beginning of their innings, scoring their first run only after eight balls had been bowled, as Praveen Kumar and left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt bowled testing spells. Opening with Tendulkar, back after an injury layoff, and Franklin the home team reached 34 runs in five overs.

Tendulkar played a few crisp strokes, caressing Azhar Mahmood for a four through third man, and was dropped by Awana at fine leg off the same bowler. But the lapse did not prove costly as the maestro was run-out soon after – by a direct hit from David Miller from deep mid-wicket. Rohit Sharma was dismissed cheaply in the next over – the tenth - and then followed a phase of aggression from Mumbai, as Franklin and Dinesh Karthik combined for 75 in six overs.

Franklin powered Bhatt into the crowd, heaving the ball from outside off to the leg side, a stroke that brought him one of his four sixes. Karthik too made his time in the middle count, reverse sweeping Hussey and blitzing Mahmood for fours. A total in excess of 180 looked on the cards when these two were cruising along, but Karthik was run out going for a second as Mumbai ran into a road block.

Wickets started to tumble as the new batsmen looked to turn it on. Pollard, Franklin and Harbhajan Singh all got out within ten runs of each other (Praveen claiming two in two balls) and Mumbai finished with a total well short of what they looked like getting at one stage.

The Dirty Picture could not be telecast Sunday on Sony TV

The much-awaited television premiere Sunday of 'The Dirty Picture', which has an adult certification, has been stalled, one of the actors in the film has said.

The film, which is reportedly based on the story of late southern actress Silk Smitha and fetched actress Vidya Balan her first National Award, was to be shown at 12 noon and at 8 pm on Sunday on Sony TV. However, it is not being shown on Sunday, according to Tusshar Kapoor, one of the actors in the film.

Sony ran a ticker saying: "For unavoidable reasons we regret to inform that the film 'The Dirty Picture' will not be telecast today. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted'. The film also features Naseeruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi.

"Really unfortunate that after all the necessary cuts and a valid UA certificate, The Dirty Picture could not be telecast today on Sony TV," Tusshar tweeted.

"In light of recent events that exposed the dark side of Bollywood, 'The Dirty Picture' was well timed as it depicts a similar harsh reality!

"Sad that inspite of being acclaimed for it's entertaining realism & having won 3 National Awards the regulatory forces have stalled the show," Tusshar posted.

The film, which is replete with bold scenes, had undergone 56 cuts to enable it being shown on Indian television. It was given a UA certification for being shown on Indian television.

The USP of the show will be an art installation on PEACE, specially created by Filmfare award winning Art Director, Sukant Panigrahy.

Like the Sufi poet Rumi said about love, ‘Although I may try to write about Love, I am rendered helpless; my pen breaks and the paper slips away, at the ineffable place, where Lover, Loving and Loved are one.’ So as in this case as well trying to express the emotions Junoon’s music swells up in all hearts, but one has to be there to believe it!!!

Bad News For Mumbai Fire on Signal Cabin 3days for repairing

Mumbai: Thousands of commuters were stranded on the Central Railway (CR) stations after a midnight fire in a signal cabin. It will take three to four days to fully restore the traffic, a CR spokesperson said adding that services on the Harbour line were also hampered.

Only 70 per cent of the normal suburban services would be operated on Wednesday, he said, adding that 4 long distance trains coming from Pune and Manmad have been cancelled.

"There was a fire in the signal cabin between Kurla and Vidyavihar stations at midnight and there was heavy damage to signalling gears," the spokesperson said.

The fire was brought under control within half an hour by fire brigade personnel.

Trains services resumed partially at 3.30 am on Wednesday, but the trains were running over half an hour late. Railways have allowed CR suburban commuters to use their season pass on the Mahim-Churchgate route on Western line, he said.

Similarly, CR suburban commuters can board long distance trains at Kalyan and Kasara till CST using their pass, he added.

Around 38 lakh people commute on the Central Railway suburban network daily.

Nitish Kumar Says they will Celebrate Maharashtra Day on Bihar

Mumbai: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said that he would like to see Maharashtra Day celebrated in Bihar in the same way as Bihar Day is being celebrated in Mumbai.

While addressing a crowd here late on Sunday, Nitish Kumar thanked the Maharashtra government for a well-organised cultural celebration of Bihar Day in Mumbai.

"The people of Bihar have always been treated with respect in Maharashtra. This festival has been organised to strengthen the ties between the people of Maharashtra and Bihar," he said.

The celebrations started with the singing of 'Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha', a popular Marathi language song praising Maharashtra.

Kickstarting his speech in Marathi, Nitish Kumar praised Maharashtra and said: "Marathi is a sweet language and I will like to learn it."

"I will take lessons for the same," he said as he spoke about his affection towards Maharashtrian culture.

Nitish Kumar earlier met corporate leaders and urged them to take advantage of the industrial policy announced by his government in 2011.

He said that the industrial policy announced by the Bihar government focused on areas like agro-based industries, power, food-processing, tourism, IT, technical and higher education, super specialty hospitals, electronics, non-conventional sources of energy and hardware.

Stating that Bihar was now a developed state, Nitish Kumar urged the industry captains to invest in Bihar as it had industry-friendly offers.

He arrived in Mumbai Saturday to take part in the centenary celebrations of 'Bihar Diwas' in the city.

His visit had sparked a controversy last week as Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray opposed it. Later, Thackeray softened his stand saying he had no objection to a socio-cultural celebration of Bihar Day.

Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray on the other hand derided his nephew for opposing Nitish Kumar's Mumbai visit and then backtracking. He termed Raj's flip-flop as an attempt to get public attention.

IPL Prediction CSK Vs PWI Match 16

A match between two master strategists today, Chennai led by Dhoni and Pune led by Ganguly.  In fact  thinks that Ganguly bats like a tired old man and fields like a withered old lady which makes him a liability to the Pune batting line up. However his leadership is still as sharp as ever and Ganguly would love to pull of an upset against Dhoni, who is seen by many as an equal if not a better captain than Ganguly himself.

So, what will it be faithful followers? Chennai or Pune?

Now after thinking about both Team our astrologer thinking  Dada Ki dadagiri..PWI will Won today...

Beti B Bachan on Red Carpet

If the sources in the tinsel town have heard it right then Beti B Aaradhya Bachchan might accompany mommy Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the Cannes festival in May this year. Although this would be Aishwarya’s 11th appearance at the prestigious film festival but this time walking on the red carpet would be different. This would be Aishwarya’s first walk as a mum where she will be accompanied by her 5-month old daughter Aaradhya. Rai has been walking the red carpet as the brand ambassador of L’Oreal for last ten years. With ounces of weight put on by ex-Miss World, it would also be interesting to know what will Aishwarya choose to wear on the red carpet.

Apart from Ash, other Bollywood stars are also expected to accompany her to the film festival. Bipasha Basu will be walking the red carpet with Josh Hartnett, her co-star from her upcoming film ‘Singularity’. Arjun Rampal and Rohit Bal will be seen gracing the red carpet as the ambassadors of liquor brand Chivas. The Chamak Challo girl Kareena Kapoor is also likely to make her debut at the Cannes this year.

13 to 22 April 2012

वांद्रे-वरळी सी लिंकच्या टोलदरात वाढ ( Travelling Bandra-Worli Sea Link More costly from 1st April )
