This Diwali Ra-One did massive collecetion in theatres
Director Anubhav Sinha's much-anticipated movie Ra.One, which features Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the leads, has made mind boggling start at the Box Office. In many theatres, the screening of the superhero film began at 8 a.m and it registered 95-100% occupancy on the first day of its releaseThe Rs 145-crore film was released on Wednesday in 3,200 screens across India. Every multiplex has about 18 shows a day, and for this reason alone the collections should be very substantial. "The fact that ticket prices are upwards of 20 per cent from the regular price point will also add to the collections,"
first-day collections could touch Rs 22 crore. "The Hindi version will collect more than Rs 20 crore, and if one adds the collections of the Tamil and Telugu versions, it will go up to Rs 22 crore," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Salman Khan's Bodyguard, which was released in 2,700 screens across India, was the last film to create a record first-day collection of Rs 21 crore. "I am not sure if Ra.One will beat Bodyguard's first-day collections, but it will break Bodyguard's record in five days," says Delhi-UP distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts.
"Bodyguard collected about Rs 80 crore in the first five days-my estimate is that Ra.One will collect between Rs 90 crore and Rs 100 crore."
Usually, theatres remain empty during festivals and pooja ceremony. A few people in the industry thinking that the film Ra.One may not get a big opening on the first day. Surprisingly, Shahrukh-Kareena starrer has got a massive start in the collection centres.
