Arvind Kejriwal |
RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal was greeted with black flags, heckled and booed at a meeting held here on Sunday morning.
The trouble erupted after some activists, reportedly belonging to Ghantanad Sanstha, took objections to Kejriwal making anti-government statements during the course of his speech at the Vasantrao Deshpande Auditorium.
The activists started booing at Kejriwal and shouted slogans, forcing retaliation from the activist's supporters. Consequently, a scuffle broke out between the two groups.
Independent reports said that a scuffle ensued between supporters of both Ghantanad Sanstha and Team Anna outside the auditorium, though police have declined to confirm it.
“Violence is not a solution. Should have talked to them,” Kejriwal said after the incident.
In his public speech, Kejriwal related all the issues pertaining to the anti-corruption movement and alleged the government was not interested in bringing the Jan Lokpal Bill or taking measures to tackle corruption.
